an original poem by Joshua Brown

When I watched you smile through broken toothed grin

Back at me, with tears running down your face

I saw the betrayed animal seeking shelter from storm

By running towards the shoreline

And crash you will find the tempting waters

To be more insurmountable than even the rain

Which bore down upon your childhood skin

With melting temptations to embrace

And into the hands of the Almighty you flee

But not as a Believer, but a Temptress yourself

To grasp onto men, your objects

Senseless beasts of mutilated golemlikeness

For wiles they will bear against soul

An influence lost to this barbarian son

Who might have escaped to a world golden

But now, entombed among the fearful

Shifty, this matriarchal state of being

And cowardly they choose to be, retreating

To familiarity and unconscious reproduction

Of suicidal betrayal of childhood desire

And in those tears, fled the last fiery rains

And only tidal waves of annihilation remain

Butchering even the topsoil, and casting

The pornographic actor as perpetrator

Offer up these feelings to the gods of ardor

Blood and sweat to the altar of candor

Only to see reframed and twisted by knaves

Your vulnerability used to dehumanize

An entire race of those beguiled by

The holy ring of power offered by the hook

Ah, little one, behold these the rinsings!

They are but for a moment if you confess

Then, power will be yours!

Imagine how contorted these monsters be

Who seek to subdue your pow'r o'er them!

Crush them now, you beautiful goddess!

Then, in a moment, I saw the obligation

Refreshing as it was disgusting, the plights

Of power-seeking determination

Aroused by the horny female spies

Yessy was the conversation had within

As the propaganda came to bear without

But was this intentional or allowed

And did that question even matter

For power, like words, is an inside job

With winks and nods and soft nudges

And contemplate one must the qui bono

Or else be const' victim of consequence

Hail to the Queen, now enthroned by lies

That everyone knows but none dare call

Hail to the Queen, for beautiful curses

Cast by the warlocks that know better

Hail to the Queen, her alliances steely

Against the men that would disrobe her

Hail to the Queen, for meditative exists

Her posturing among the statesmen

Hail to the Queen, but only for a lifetime

For her rebellion against nature is quelled

Hail to the Queen, her body littered now

As the victim of men and women repute

Hail to the Queen, to teach us treachery

Against the King and the real people

Thanks for reading "Internalized" which was written in Aurora, Colorado, United States, North America on June 4, 2023. Check out my last poem "A Federal Marshal and WFM" which is a reflection on the justice system and its effects on children. I wrote it as a personal reflection on themes that I have personally experienced as a child and as a contemplation on how children I know and care for may experience it.

Thanks for reading!
