Inside Out

a poem by Joshua Brown

Beeps understated and a body lying

Dusted by a rough sheet loosely held

By gravity against the body deep gone

Into the alternate reality of sleep

Broken by sodomy of plastic tubing

Exploring the permissive fluids oily

Bright lights dimmed against the team

Laughing at the conspiracy theorists

Privacy of the surgical workbench

And the cartel that protects criminal

From his own cancer, that cancer ill

That bleeds out love for bitcoin pill

Run from the law and run from men

That wicked king with wigged sin

Gavel bangs hard the whoring girl

Allow the nurse to catch your hurl

Love and kindness by those around

But kingdom clash and holy ground

Beneath our feet as wakes from sleep

The man who runs but never weeps
