Urban Evolution

 a poem by Joshua Brown

Shitty garbage everywhere

Painted concrete blocks

Vital booty shorted girls

Dogs. Dogs. Dogs.

Bicycle flitting here there

Brake lights flash on

Naked stares unframed

Gated flowers; gated church

They don't know what my life was like

Walking in man-made walls everyday

Shitting in porcelain thrones.

Existential vagueness in the citadel.

Speaking louder with clothes than evolution.

I observe in silence unaware of the dusty gentrified corner's population and their story.

It doesn't matter.

Someone else made this shitty intersection.

We're all just gravity astronauts.
