Indignant Elders

a poem by Joshua Brown

True to the self.
True to the Word.
True to the life
That demanded a cure.

Lift up your heart.
And stare at their faces
Shallow serpentine creek
Eroding old places.

Indignant elders
Who dare question the kings
Stupid old men
Who drifted from places.

Learned at the skill
Of gaslighting boys
Raping their minds
With fucking old mens toys

I saw the allure
Of the ghostly surrender
To the will of the genes
Sweet Saturdays bender

They broke their own will
With the choices they made
They sold out their soul
The bill must be paid.
