Distress

 a poem by Joshua Brown

When I watch your actions

Obtuse and pained

I see myself wasting away

In vanity and pride

The people of the valley

Both soul and empty brain

In darkness seek their vision

White paper blotted stain

Give us bread They snort

With desperation clear

Out with the comforts!

Just ignoring the fear

The virus is potent

Here and there alive

Inside their zombie carcass

They will not ever die.
